Comcast Announces Donation to Support Minneapolis and St. Paul Community Relief and Rebuilding Efforts

Comcast supports Minneapolis and St. Paul.

All of us at Comcast in Minnesota continue to grieve the senseless killing of George Floyd and the devastating impact it has had on his family, friends, the Twin Cities community and beyond. The Twin Cities is our home and an important part of the Comcast family.

We have begun to mobilize our response as a company and while we recognize we do not have all the answers, we are putting our words into real, sustainable action.

To that end, we have announced a comprehensive, multiyear company-wide plan to allocate $100 million to fight injustice and inequality against any race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation or ability. There will be $75 million in cash and $25 million in media that will be distributed over the next three years, in addition to the existing commitments our company currently makes to thousands of organizations supporting underrepresented communities.

As part of this announcement, Comcast will be immediately allocating a $500,000 cash and in-kind contribution to support the relief and rebuilding efforts in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

A donation of $50,000 each will be made to Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis and Hallie Q. Brown Community Center in St. Paul to assist with immediate community response needs in impacted neighborhoods. In addition, donations totaling $150,000 will be made to assist minority-owned small businesses and other local community organizations in their recovery efforts. Comcast will also set aside $250,000 worth of in-kind support for public service announcements and advertisement airtime to support recovery efforts.

As we rebuild, we will continue our long-standing commitment to equity and inclusion working with a wide range of Twin Cities community partners, leaders, and businesses to advance the dialogue around race in our community and country.

Our 1,900 employees are proud to serve this community and keep it connected to moments and experiences that matter most. Honest dialogue is critical, as is fighting injustice wherever it exists. We are committed to being a champion for equity as we continue this journey together.
