Backpacks & Broadband: Fueling Student Success in Greater Kansas City

REAP event

The Midwest Region has been busy throughout the past several weeks in Missouri and Kansas, participating in a number back to school events in support of families and their children as they return to the classroom.

Employees volunteered at Raytown Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) located in Raytown, Mo., stuffing more than 350 backpacks for elementary, middle and high school students along with a $5,000 donation to the non-profit organization.

REAP provides crucial services such as utility bill assistance and weekly grocery delivery to local residents in need. It marked the fourth consecutive year of Comcast supporting this community initiative.

The company was also a large supporter of the Community Services League (CSL)’s 2025 Back to School Fair in Independence, Mo. CSL anticipates serving nearly 2,500 school children with a new backpack full school supplies and a new pair of shoes to start the school year.

“We were honored to contribute both our time and financial support to a cause that makes a real difference,” said Jennifer Dameron, Director of External Affairs, Comcast Midwest Region. “Supporting students and families as they prepare for the school year is part of our commitment to strengthening the communities we serve. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our efforts—whether packing backpacks or partnering with local organizations—help create a more confident and prepared start for hundreds of young learners across Missouri.”

Lastly, to celebrate our expansion into Paola, Kansas, Comcast held a Xfinity on Tour event at the Paola Roots Festival. Attendees enjoyed a live photobooth on site and took home Jurassic World swag bags that included a canvas tote, hat, and stickers. There were nearly 1,000 residents that came out to the festival over the course of the weekend.
