Wired for the Future: Broadband Expansion Project Breaks Ground in Harrisonville, Mo.

Comcast was honored this week to celebrate its recent expansion into Harrisonville, Mo., by hosting a groundbreaking event at the City Park.

Harrisonville marks the first official groundbreaking since Comcast’s announcement of its six-city expansion in Missouri in March. The total project, which will span more than 300 miles and is planned to be completed by 2027, will double the company’s existing footprint in the state.

The event was attended by city, county, and state officials, leaders of the Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce, and community members. Attendees enjoyed refreshments from Baked by Nina, a local cafe and bakery.

“Comcast’s expansion into Harrisonville is a meaningful step forward for our community,” said Bing Schimmelpfenning, Executive Director of the Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce. “Enhanced connectivity and access to modern digital tools will support local businesses, improve access to information, and contribute to the overall quality of life for residents. We welcome this investment and look forward to the opportunities it will bring.”

This project is an important part of Comcast’s rollout of multi-gig, symmetrical Internet speeds. It brings the company’s total investment in technology and infrastructure in Missouri to nearly $100 million over the past three years.

“We are very appreciative of our partnerships with both the city and the Chamber to help celebrate this special milestone,” said Jennifer Dameron, director, External Affairs, Comcast Midwest Region. “We are beyond excited to bring Internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business to Harrisonville residents and businesses for the first time.”
