Each Veteran’s Day serves as a keen reminder of the great sacrifice that our service men and women have given for our country — past, present and future.

At Comcast, we’re committed to supporting and celebrating the military community—not just during Veterans and Military Families Month, but all year long.

In Minnesota, Comcast has given more than $5.5 million in cash and in-kind donations over the last three years, including support to local military organizations such as Every Third Saturday, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, and United Heroes League

Among the most transformative contributions this year was $10,000 toward new automatic door openers at Every Third Saturday, a veteran service organization based in Minneapolis that exists to foster hope and support post traumatic growth through supporting, connecting and empowering veterans. The new door openers will be installed later this year.

“Comcast’s generosity has profoundly impacted our ability to support veterans,” said Tom McKenna, founder and veterans advocate at Every Third Saturday. “Many veterans we serve rely on wheelchairs and scooters, and these new openers will significantly enhance their accessibility. This improvement fosters a more inclusive environment, ensuring all veterans feel welcomed and valued within the Every Third Saturday community.”

“Words cannot fully convey our gratitude to Comcast for their unwavering support. Their contributions have strengthened our community and enriched the lives of the veterans we serve,” said McKenna.

The Comcast Midwest Region team also supports our veteran community through volunteerism by members of the VetNet Employee Resource Group (ERG).

VetNet members recently volunteered at Hunt.Fish.Feed, a partnership between Comcast, Sportsman Channel, and Wild Wings of Oneka in Hugo, Minnesota, where they helped prepare a wild game lunch for more than 100 veterans and their family members.

Honoring Veterans During the Holiday Season

This holiday season, Comcast will honor military veterans as part of 12 special “White Christmas The Musical” performances at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. During each show, a local veteran and three guests will be treated to the show along with dinner and special recognition.

In December, VetNet volunteers will place wreaths on graves at Fort Snelling in partnership with Wreaths Across America. They will also send handwritten notes to veteran customers and make a donation to America’s VetDogs, an organization that provides guide dogs to service members and first responders with disabilities at no cost.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the roles our service men and women play in our communities each day,” said Kalyn Hove, Regional Senior Vice President, Comcast Midwest Region. “We’re very proud to partner and support the many wonderful local organizations that work every day to meet the needs of our veterans, service members, and military families across the Midwest.”
