Employees join Carter Work Project 2024 to build Twin Cities homes
Comcast’s Midwest Region sponsored and participated in the 2024 Carter Work Project hosted by Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. More than 50 Comcast Midwest Region volunteers worked over the course of a week to construct houses for The Heights, a major redevelopment of the 112-acre former Hillcrest Golf Course in St. Paul.
“Together, our Comcast team is building more than homes with Habitat for Humanity; we’re building hope, community, and a brighter future for all,” said Karly Baraga Werner, vice president, External Affairs, Comcast Midwest Region. “Through our sponsorship of the Carter Work Project and our teamwork, we will be making a lasting impact on families who gain not just a house, but a home filled with opportunity.”
In total, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity plans to build 147 total homes at The Heights making it the organization’s largest development to date.
The broader development will deliver more than 1,000 housing units, 1,000 jobs and a new community with greenspaces and amenities.
Xfinity on Tour attends Fall Festival in Spring Hill, Kan.
Comcast brought ‘Xfinity on Tour’ to the Spring Hill Fall Festival in Spring Hill, Kan., where the weekend-long celebration included a $5,000 donation to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund.
Founded in 2013, the fund provides donations to nonprofits throughout Spring Hill. It marks the third consecutive year Comcast has supported the fund.
“We are honored to support the wonderful organizations in Spring Hill who are helping make the community a better place to live, work and thrive,” said Jennifer Dameron, director, External Affairs, Comcast Midwest Region.
Festival goers were introduced to the products Xfinity offers and participated in games, including watch parties of the Kansas State Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs. To add to the fun, Gabby from the TV show Gabby’s Dollhouse was in attendance to meet and dance with fans.
In April, Comcast completed a network expansion into Spring Hill. As part of that announcement, the company donated $5,000 to the Spring Hill Education Foundation and was part of Daffodil Days 2024 with several ‘Xfinity on Tour’ events.
Teacher Appreciation Night held in St. Paul
The school season is in full swing and what better way to start it off by celebrating teachers!
Through a partnership with Tickets for Kids Charities and the St. Paul Saints, Comcast hosted – for the third consecutive year – a Teacher Appreciation Night to honor educators for their dedication, hard work and positive impact on students and the community. More than 500 teachers enjoyed a beautiful night at the ballpark.
“Our teachers give so much to help our kids grow and succeed. That’s why Teacher Appreciation Night is the perfect chance for Comcast to say, ‘thank you’ for their dedication,” said Elizabeth Bierman, vice president, Construction and Engineering, Comcast Midwest Region.
Bierman and Tracy Byrd, the teacher of the year from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
