Comcast was recently recognized by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City as an Outstanding Partner for our contributions. In 2021, Comcast opened a Lift Zone at the Boys and Girls Club to help provide low-income individuals with free WiFi for those needing Internet access to participate in distance learning during the day or to do homework before or after school. This is the third Lift Zone that Comcast has implemented in the Greater Kansas City market. Two other Lift Zones are located at the Independence and Hawthorne Heights Boys & Girls Club locations.
Lift Zones are designed to complement our Internet Essentials program and help those students who, for a variety of reasons (including homelessness, or housing insecurity issues), are simply unable to participate in distance learning at home. This gives them another way to get online. The initiative provides not only free Internet connectivity, but also access to hundreds of hours of educational and digital skills content to help families and site coordinators navigate online learning.
For over 20 years, Comcast NBCUniversal has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs to empower youth with the digital literacy and technology skills needed for success in work and life. Comcast was recognized at the February 10 combined Youth of the Year and Annual Meeting event.
