Celebrating Cologne’s Heroes: First Responders Honored with Community BBQ
Comcast Midwest Region celebrated its presence in Cologne, Minn., by hosting a fall barbeque for local firefighters and community members at the Cologne Fire Station.
The event, held in partnership with the Cologne Fire Department, provided an opportunity to express gratitude and heartfelt recognition for the brave first responders who commit themselves daily to the service and safety of town residents.
“We’re thrilled to be part of the Cologne community,” said Karly Baraga Werner, Vice President, External Affairs, Midwest Region. “This town has such a strong sense of pride and connection, and we’re honored to be here.”

Comcast completed a network expansion in Cologne in 2024, which introduced its full lineup of Xfinity and Comcast Business services—including Internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services—to area homes and businesses for the first time. The investment is part of Comcast’s long-term commitment to keep communities like Cologne connected.
Beyond technology and infrastructure investments, Comcast is deeply committed to supporting local initiatives.
This summer, the company proudly sponsored the Cologne Hollanders baseball team and hosted a Kids Day event in June, bringing smiles to families across the area. Comcast also sponsored the 24th Annual Cologne Glad Days Hometown Festival and plans a donation to Bountiful Basket Food Shelf to support families in need over the holidays.
“That love of community is what brought us here tonight,” Werner said. “To the Cologne Fire Department and everyone here tonight—thank you for all you do. We’re grateful to be here and excited to be part of this amazing community.”
